The rod seal is the most critical seal on any type of fluid power equipment preventing leakage of fluid from within the cylinder to the outside.Rod seals act as a pressure barrier to keep the operating fluid inside the cylinder. They also provide a thin lubrication film on the piston rod that lubricates the rod seals and wiper seals. The lubricant also inhibits corrosion of the piston rod surface.Rod Seals prevent leakage of hydraulic fluid to the outside of the sealing system. Additionally, Rod Seals help contribute, in combination with a Wiper Seal, to preventing contamination of the environment.
